About the Position
Maria Preschool is located in central Gällivare, close to the library, swimming hall, and museum. The preschool is organized into age-separated groups and consists of two buildings with separate playgrounds. One building houses three departments for children aged 1–2 years. The other building has five departments for children aged 3–5 years, divided into age groups. At Maria Preschool, we work in 3-, 4-, and 5-year groups, meaning that work teams collaborate across departments to give children the opportunity to explore and discover different learning environments.
Responsibilities
As a preschool teacher (barnskötare), your role involves working together with the work team to create a safe and developmental environment for the children on your department. According to the curriculum guidelines, you have a responsibility within the team to develop, follow up, and evaluate both the operations and the children's learning.
You are part of a work team and participate actively in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the pedagogical work. In collaboration with your colleagues, you will provide children with new challenges, as well as support and stimulation for their social development.
Qualifications
You are a trained preschool teacher (barnskötare) or have other experience that the employer deems equivalent.
Key qualities and competencies:
- You are familiar with our governing documents, specifically the Preschool Curriculum (Lpfö 18).
- You are a confident and clear leader who takes initiative, is positive, and trusts in the children's various competencies.
- You are interested in developing and creating good learning environments.
- You value trust-based relationships with children and guardians and have good collaboration skills.
- You use pedagogical conversations and pedagogical documentation in your daily work.
Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish according to the National Minority Language Act. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
A certificate of good conduct (extract from the police record) is required by law for work in schools and childcare upon employment.

The appointment is subject to the position not needing to be filled by existing staff due to redundancy or other reasons. Personal qualities are given great importance.

Working Hours/Duration
Full-time, fixed-term employment for the school year 2026/2027.
